Sustainable Growth from the Start

Since day one, Van Haelst has been investing in new orchards and additional plantings. Our ambition? Continued growth, while respecting nature and minimizing our impact.

Innovative Technology for Sustainable Cultivation

Through projects focused on eco-friendly farming and fuel-saving techniques like combined mowing and misting, we continuously reduce our footprint. Self-driving tractors and smart irrigation systems optimize our farming and water management.

Natural Solutions for a Healthy Environment

We consciously choose natural fertilizers and compost and use eco-friendly pest control methods such as birdhouses, flower hedges for bees and pheromone confusion techniques.

Climate-Neutral Production

Research by KU Leuven and ILVO has shown that the production of Flemish pears is entirely climate neutral. The carbon stored in our orchards fully offsets our already low carbon footprint, creating a positive impact on the environment.

Our water use is fully circular: rainwater is collected, purified, and 100% reused, minimizing consumption and increasing efficiency.

Efficient, Local Production

Our orchards are close to home, reducing transport needs and lowering our ecological footprint. We deliver as fresh as possible while simultaneously cutting CO² emissions.

Solar Energy for a Greener Future

Our facilities are powered by solar panels, allowing us to generate electricity with minimal environmental impact. We keep our CO² emissions and waste production as low as possible, supporting cleaner production with renewable energy (SDG 13).
